Visiting Scholars
The Buffett Center Visiting Scholars program is designed to build a community of current and future Alumnae/i visitors to the Buffett Center that will enhance the intellectual environment at the Center and on campus. We anticipate that our Faculty Affiliates will be able to use the visiting scholars program to reciprocate and strenghten relationships with colleagues and universities around the world.
The Buffett Center has seven office spaces for visiting scholars. Appointments can be short term (a few weeks in a quarter) to long term (up to a year). We provide these services for our visitors, but visitors must bring their own funding, as the Buffett Center does not have funds available to support visitors. Visitors or host departments may also be asked to pay Northwestern’s administrative fee for processing visa requests. Visitors are expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Center, including in our Faculty & Fellows Colloquium.
Prospective visitors should provide a letter of interest, a CV, and a description of the project they will be working on at Northwestern. Priority is given to candidates with the support of faculty who are actively involved in Center programming, and those candidates whose research relates closely to current Buffett Center research projects and programs. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Northwestern faculty members are encouraged to contact Buffett Center Associate Director Brian Hanson, bhanson@northwestern.edu, or Director Hendrik Spruyt, h-spruyt@northwestern.edu, at any point during the year to inquire into availability.
