Security Studies Working Group

The Working Group on Security Studies is an interdisciplinary community of scholars interested in research on the causes, conduct and consequences of violent conflict—be it civil war, terrorism or interstate competition. Research on the security consequences of international institutions, climate change, religious fundamentalism, and competition for energy sources is also most welcome.

Meetings are primarily dedicated to encouraging and providing feedback to research in progress. The group also invites outside speakers to present and discuss their work.

Membership

Members from any intellectual field and research tradition are encouraged to join the Group. Current participants include scholars from Political Science, Sociology, History, Management, Journalism, and Communication.

Faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and affiliates who are interested in joining the group, as well as advanced graduate students interested in participating in individual activities, should contact the program directors.

Leadership

Directors: Hendrik Spruyt and Jonathan Caverley

Coordinator: Olivier Henripin
