Program Initiative for Global Mental Health Studies
The new program initiative for Global Mental Health Studies is dedicated to teaching, research, and critical thinking aimed at understanding mental health issues across diverse populations. Mental health issues are studied across the spectrum of inquiry including the political, theological, economical, historical, social, medical, and cultural.
The study of global mental health issues seeks to understand in-depth how persons can realize their own abilities, cope with the stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to their community. In this positive sense, mental health is the base for a person’s well being, a young person’s ability to learn and for all to achieve a meaningful place in their community.
The program initiative for Global Mental Health Studies is designed to bring together interdisciplinary faculty and students to develop collaborations for innovative teaching and research. The program will reach out to organizations and practitioners outside the traditional confines of academia to promote scientific competency in global mental health issues. |
